Wonder Man: The New Plot Of The Marvel Series Reveals: “It Will Be A Satire Of Hollywood”

After the various announcements that have accompanied it in recent weeks, everything seems to be ready for the start of filming on Wonder Man, the new Marvel Studios series starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams. Now, a new storyline in the series coming to Disney+ has revealed the very special tone it will take.
Despite not being part of any of Marvel Studios’ big summer presentations (SDCC and D23), Wonder Man is slated to begin principal photography in late March or early April. For this reason, the series has made headlines of late, as the cast began to emerge, and now it’s back in the spotlight as insider Daniel RPK has unveiled a potential logline for the project. Previously, Wonder Man has been described as a Hollywood satire and the new information provided by RPK seems to be in line with this concept.
Based on the Wonder Man character, one of Marvel’s oldest, first introduced in 1964 on the pages of Avengers #1. 9. Known as Simon Williams, a famous actor, and stuntman. Simply put, it’s the story of two actors struggling to make it into MCU Hollywood, [asking] the big question: What does Hollywood look like in a world where superheroes are real?
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will play Simon Williams, aka Wonder Man, and will share the screen with Ben Kingsley, who will reprise his role as Trevor Slattery (arguably the other struggling actor) in the project. If Slattery is the other actor, one wonders where in the MCU timeline the series will fall. When last seen, Slattery appeared to have chosen to stay in Ta Lo with their friend Morris after spending a good part of the decade in prison or as a prisoner of Wenwu after playing the Mandarin at the behest of Aldrich Killian.
Recall that Wonder Man is a series created and supervised by Destin Daniel Cretton, director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and the next Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. The entry of Stella Meghie as a director has recently been confirmed.
