Super Mario Bros: That’s How Long the Animated Film With Chris Pratt Will Last

Among the most awaited and important releases of next spring, Super Mario Bros. – The Movie certainly stands out, the new animated film produced by Universal Pictures and Illumination which will be based on the popular character of the Nintendo video game franchise. In these hours the official duration of the film with Chris Pratt has been revealed.
Thanks to the Irish film classification office, it has been confirmed that Super Mario Bros. – The Movie will have a running time of 1 hour 32 minutes and, at least in Irish territories, will be rated PG for some scenes judged to be violent. While a running time of 92 minutes may seem relatively short, it is in line with many other animated films.
The last two Toy Story movies, for example, were around 1 hour and 40 minutes long, Puss in Boots 2: Death’s Wish was 1 hour and 44 minutes long, and Minions 2: How Gru Becomes Villainous was just 1 hour long an hour and 27 minutes.
Animated films usually tend to run much shorter than the average live-action blockbuster. So far, the trailers for Super Mario Bros have suggested that audiences should expect a lot of action, including a sequence of Mario Kart on Rainbow Road, a fight between Mario and Bowser, and perhaps even a segment that will pay homage to Luigi’s Mansion. Only once it has landed in theaters will we know if the film will be worthy; for the moment, what lies ahead is an exciting new film based on a video game that can correct the mistakes made in the past by the infamous Super Mario Bros. film (the one from 1993 that has become a cult favorite with Bob Hoskins).
Super Mario Bros. will be released in US theaters on April 7, 2023.
