The Suicide Squad: James Gunn Unveils a Completely Crazy Trailer

DC Shock Team returns even crazier.

While some fans, intoxicated by the Justice League Snyder Cut, still dream of seeing David Ayer’s Suicide Squad in the director’s cut version, Warner Bros. Turns the page on the DC Universe’s other cursed movie. We forget the film released in theaters in 2016, we take (almost) the same and start over. This time with James Gunn, hired during his brief ouster from Marvel Studios, in charge.

A strong Guardians of the Galaxy atmosphere inevitably permeates the trailer for The Suicide Squad, unveiled this Friday. Because it is about a band of thugs who will have to save the world, that Gunn encrusted Yondu alias Michael Rooker, that we meet a man-shark with limited vocabulary and cool music. The most notable difference being that we swear more and that the jokes are more gritty (” I love the rain, they look like angels squirting on us “). Normal, you might say, this is the “red band trailer”, the uncensored trailer for the film.

So, follow-up or reboot? At the sight of these images, one is hardly further advanced. Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, and Viola Davis are still there, and the principle of the suicide mission in exchange for a remission of the sentence still at the heart of the plot. On the other hand, Will Smith, Cara Delevingne, Jared Leto, or Jai Hernandez have not resumed, more or less replaced by Idris Elba, John Cena, or even Sylvester Stallone, who therefore doubles King Shark. Ah, and the trailer hints at the threat of a Kaiju, as we catch a glimpse of Pete Capaldi who will be a major villain in the film.

The Suicide Squad is due out in the United States simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6. In France, it will arrive at the cinema from July 28, subject to… (you know the rest).
