Most successful Marvel premiere at Disney +: “Loki”

Last Wednesday, Tom Hiddleston’s Asgard charlatan stole the show from all MCU heroes. Now it is clear: “Loki” had the most successful Marvel premiere to date on Disney +.

It was definitely in sight, now we have the final proof: The Asgard god of practical jokes is by far one of the most popular characters across the MCU. As reported by Deadline, around 890,000 households in the US alone streamed the premiere of the new Marvel series “ Loki ” last Wednesday. In comparison: The first episode of “WandaVision” saw around 655,000 US households at the time, and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” then reached around 759,000 subscribers.

In any case, this number cannot be related to the general increase in subscribers: According to various sources, Disney + has hardly seen any growth over the past few months – people just really want Tom Hiddleston in his rogue Marvel cult role.

For around ten years now, countless MCU followers have been demanding that Loki also take the rampage for himself. The god of practical jokes had his greatest impact so far in the three Thor solos but was repeatedly covered up by Chris Hemsworth’s mountains of muscles. Loki has finally reached the big stage with his own show – and series are currently more popular than films anyway. The expectations in advance were correspondingly high – measured against episode 1 (the next episode will be out tomorrow), “Loki” actually seems to skip it with ease.

The premiere episode feels both Marvel-typical and atypical, skillfully stages Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and, in addition to the wacky setting, also convinces in the supporting roles with fantastic stars. Owen Wilson in particular is extremely convincing as Morbius M. Morbius, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw also makes her cause as a judge of the TVA as usual.
