Standstill in Nübel poker?
FC Bayern’s search for a replacement for the injured Manuel Neuer continues. When it comes to Alexander Nübel, the people of Munich are apparently not making any progress.
On Wednesday afternoon, league operations for AS Monaco around Alexander Nübel picked up speed again, but poker for the future of the German goalkeeper seems to have come to a standstill.
As the French sports daily L’Équipe reported before the Monegasque game at AJ Auxerre,
negotiations about an early Nübel return to Bayern Munich as a replacement for the injured Manuel Neuer are currently not progressing.
Although those responsible at Munich are still in talks with Monaco, a crucial obstacle has still not been cleared: the question of who could adequately replace Nübel in the goal of the Ligue 1 club in the short term.
Monaco has the last word
“In the end, AS Monaco has the last word,” said Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic in Sport Bild before Christmas,
although he “naturally” described Nübel as the “obvious solution” for the German record champions
Unlike in the summer, Munich has no contractual option in the winter transfer window to bring the 26-year-old back
In addition to an agreement with Monaco, past experience would probably also require certain guarantees to convince Nübel of an early return to the Bavarian capital.

Nübel coach does not want to rule out farewell
As long as there is no agreement between all parties involved, the former Schalke player will continue to concentrate completely on his task in the principality – in Auxerre, Nübel was, as expected, in the starting XI.
“He is here with us while he is in training. He does everything for the team,” said Monaco coach Philippe Clement on Tuesday: “As coaches,
we’re always happy when the transfer window closes. The fact that the players are focused on it, which they are, is what matters most to me.”
However, he did not want to rule out a Nübel farewell in winter: “We will see. It depends on the situation whether it’s interesting for the club or not.”
