Sleeping Dogs: Karen Gillan Joins Russell Crowe in the Cast for a Marvel Reunion

Marvel reunion is in sight for Sleeping Dogs, a new thriller starring Russell Crowe who in these hours has also added Karen Gillan, star of the Guardians of the Galaxy saga, interpreter of Nebula, to its cast.

Based on EO Chirovici’s 2017 novel ‘The Book of Mirrors, Sleeping Dogs will star Academy Award winner Russell Crowe ( Gladiator, The Insider ) as former homicide detective Roy Freeman: as he undergoes vanguard for Alzheimer’s”, Freeman is forced to reopen an investigation into the brutal murder of a university professor (Marton Csokas, The Lord of the Rings, The last duel ). Karen Gillan will play “a magnetic and mysterious woman” who will shed new light on the mystery at hand, leading Freeman ” to face a horrific reality that will change his world forever “.

In addition to Crowe, Gillan, and Csokas, Sleeping Dogs will also star Harry Greenwood ( The Nightingale, Pieces of Her ) and Thomas M. Wright ( Everest, Barkskins ). Screenwriting duo Adam Cooper and Bill Collage ( Assassins Creed, Exodus: Gods and Kings ) adapted the novel while Cooper, in his directorial debut, will direct the film. The film is produced by Mark Fasano ( American Ultra, Haunt ), Pouya Shabazian ( Shadow and Bone, American Honey ), and Deborah Glover ( A Perfect Pairing, Five Bedrooms ), with principal photography set to begin this month in Australia.

Recall that Russell Crowe, who will not return for Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2, made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2022 as Zeus in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love & Thunder. This film included a cameo from Karen Gillan as Nebula and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast. The actress, as you know, will return to the big screens in May with the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy 3 (here you can watch the latest trailer of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 ).
