Ryan Coogler suffers from writing Black Panther 2 without Chadwick Boseman
“It’s the hardest thing I have had to do in my professional life”
While Black Panther 2 is being written, director Ryan Coogler ( Creed, Fruitvale Station ) opens up about the difficulty of thinking about the project without actor Chadwick Boseman (recently nominated for the Golden Globes and the Oscars of The Blues of my Rainey ). The latter, who died last August of colon cancer at the age of 43, had donned the Black Panther costume in the first opus, released in 2018.

Asked to speak in an episode of Jemele Hill’s podcast ( via Collider ), Coogler assured that the role of Boseman would not be replaced. He also confided in the difficulty of writing this new scenario: ” It is the hardest thing that I had to do in my professional life “. The director and the actor were not only colleagues but also friends in the private sector. Coogler says he still has not recovered from the disappearance of his friend, and even though the Marvel universe will not be the same, he admits to being carried by the motivation to carry out this project to the end.
Filming for Black Panther 2 is slated to begin in the summer of 2021, with a release slated for the following year.
