HARRY POTTER, MIRIAM MARGOLYES ON MOVIE FAME: ‘IT’S A STRANGE FEELING’

Miriam Margolyes is mainly known for the role of herbology professor Pomona Sprite in the Harry Potter film saga and the actress explained the feeling she felt for having become famous with that character at the expense of decades of work and many other roles played on screen and in the theater.

“It’s a strange feeling knowing that whatever else I do, I will end up in my grave known for playing Professor Pomona Sprout in two of the Harry Potter films. It has made a huge difference in my career, making me more famous than I ever believed possible” said the actress “Fans follow me on the street, and people ask to take selfies next to Professor Sprite”.

However, as regards the artistic development of his career, Margolyes points out that the character of Pomona Sprite has not been so important: “As far as my development as an artist is concerned, playing Professor Sprite wasn’t that important because it was within my ability as an actress. But in terms of marketability it made a huge difference,” she concluded, pointing out how the possibility of memory loss is her greatest fear as an actress. The entire Harry Potter saga is available on Prime Video.
