Avatar 4 will feature a “really big time jump”

A time ellipsis that will make the transition to the swing of the franchise on Earth, for episode 5.

While Avatar 2 is already behind us and Avatar 3 is already beginning to unfold, James Cameron already has his head in the future. Its producer, Jon Landau, reveals in an interview with Empire magazine the plan for Avatar 4!

“The film will be marked by a big jump in time which will then lead to Avatar 5  he announces, suggesting that several years will pass, to better bring the transition to Earth, where the film will take place. “In Avatar 5, we will go to Earth, to open people’s eyes, to open Neytiri’s eyes, to what exists on Earth.”

What exactly will our planet look like in the world of Avatar? We already know that it is dying and this is the reason why the Resources Development Administration (RDA) came to Pandora to create a new sustainable planet for humans. “ There is overpopulation and a depletion of our natural resources that make life more difficult,” Landau confirms of Earth. “But we don’t want to paint too gloomy a picture of where our world is heading. Because we also want hope and the movies also have to convey this idea that we can change course.”

Avatar 4 will be released on December 16, 2026, in cinemas and Avatar 5 will be released on December 20, 2028.
